2048 is a generative collection of 2,048 Ordinals inscriptions. Each piece is a wide, symmetrical composition of small patches and shapes, framed in colour, with a small picture of one word at its centre.
There are exactly 2,048 pieces because there are exactly 2,048 words in the BIP-39 list, the vocabulary behind most seed phrases.
A seed phrase is the most private text a person owns: a handful of ordinary words that stand for an entire wallet. The BIP-39 list is the common alphabet of that secret, and almost no one ever sees it as more than a list.
2048 gives every one of those words a face. Each inscription corresponds to a single word of the standard, so the collection is both a set of images and a complete dictionary of self-custody, kept permanently on the chain where those wallets live.
Each piece is generated from a numeric seed. The generator assembles a kaleidoscopic field from a library of basic shapes and more complex patches, mirrored across the wide canvas, and places a small image of the piece’s word at the centre.
Background, frame colour and palette change from piece to piece, drawn from a fixed set of colour combinations. The format is deliberately wide, three times as long as it is high, so each work reads like a strip of embroidery or a printed band.
Everything is on Bitcoin. Each piece is a small HTML inscription, about 450 bytes, a child of a parent inscription made in August 2025. It loads its own seed and everything else through recursion: p5.js (v1.9.2), a stylesheet and the generator are inscribed once and reused by every piece in the collection.
The pieces were inscribed in August 2025.
