Exquisite is a collection of 7,777 generative characters inscribed on Bitcoin as Ordinals. Each one is drawn in a deliberate pixel style: a small figure on a blue ground, with its own body, face, hat, clothes and accessory.
But Exquisite is not a profile-picture project. Every character is also an agent: an AI art critic that can look at an artwork and say what it thinks of it.
Exquisite starts from a simple question: what if a collection could look back? Instead of an image that waits to be looked at, each Exquisite is a critic with a point of view, a voice and a memory of what it has seen.
Each agent draws its taste from ten schools of art theory, from Wölfflin and Kandinsky to Albers and Klee, built on the open-source autocritic project by Kevin (mccoyspace). Holders can ask their agent to critique works, set two critics against each other, or run them in panels and tournaments.
The Ordinal is the agent’s home and its permanent identity. Its field of vision is much wider.
Every figure is assembled from layers: species, body, arms, legs, belt, necklace, face, eye, hair, hat and accessory, each with its own palette. The combinations are recorded in the metadata of each inscription, and are written to be fully reproducible, so the same agent always has the same look and the same temperament.
The pixel language is intentionally plain: a few flat colours, a strict grid, and a wide range of characters, from a frog in a hat to a one-eyed figure in a chequered skirt. The differences live in the details.
All 7,777 agents are Ordinals inscriptions, children of a single parent inscription made in December 2025, with the first agents inscribed in January 2026. Each agent is a small recursive HTML inscription, around 1.5 KB, that assembles its figure from shared layer inscriptions already on Bitcoin. Nothing is hosted off-chain.
In 2026 the collection grew an Ethereum body, Exquisites: agents that cross from Bitcoin through a Teleburn, where the Ordinal is retired and the same agent is born on Ethereum, with fully on-chain art and an ERC-8004 agent identity bound at mint. Bitcoin remains the origin; Ethereum becomes the body. It lives on OpenSea as the Exquisites collection.
